I can hardly believe that tomorrow I will begin a new job after 15 - TopicsExpress

I can hardly believe that tomorrow I will begin a new job after 15 years as a school principal (5 years at Herndon Center and 10 years at Burke School) and one year as an assistant principal (Madison High School). Though the new job will undoubtedly be a wonderful opportunity for me, and something that will likely lead to even more exciting and rewarding experiences and future professional options, the preparation for this transition has proven to be very difficult as I hadnt planned on making a change and I had therefore not prepared myself emotionally. Challenging and stressful as it was, day in and day out, I have loved my time at Burke. I have such respect and appreciation for those with whom I have worked, as well as for the students and parents who have come through our doors. I will miss so much about Burke School and I will forever be appreciative of my time there. Ive compartmentalized my thoughts and feelings as much as I could -for the purpose of emotional self-preservation- but in just a few short hours it will be a reality which I can no longer attempt to avoid. So…ready or not, here I go into the world of central office: Department of Special Services Special Projects Administrator: Systems of Support Coordinator. No matter what job I have, my advocacy for parents and students will not end. And to my Burke School colleagues and friends: THANK YOU for being amazing. I will miss you more than you know.
