I can not believe WMBB aired Flesh Eating Bacteria as they did tonight! They were stating that vibrio vulnificus was the culprit! It would be rare if it did. Many times oysters are contaminated with this organism and causes sickness in those that like their oysters raw and causes a liver shut down. Flesh Eating Bacteria is usually caused by strep, staph, MRSA, or clostridium. It does not EAT flesh, it attacks the fascia under the skin and decomposes it. I will agree that the beaches are so contaminated with human waste, a skin infection can be easily a result. Consult your local bacteriologist, Medical Laboratory Scientist, (American Society of Clinical Pathologist) NOT a physician.
