I can only start my day with the written affirmation that I love my partner Chris and am so proud of the accomplishment that her Grant Park Volleyball Varsity Girls won the City Championships. Even had they not won, I would have still be proud of her work with these girls in that the skills and drills she taught them not only applied to just a game but were also skills that can be extrapolated to other aspects of life. Respect for others and oneself, in that a person (but in this case a young lady) does not need to be defined by a man or woman. That a young girl does not have a baby to address their own loneliness and needs but to dedicate their life to that new life brought into the world. To provide a child all the necessary skills and lessons to survive in and to contribute to this world and to not drag it down. That their power does not lay their physical manifestation but how they treat themselves and treat others so to avoid that path in life that ends up being in a river at 02:00 in the morning. Though Chris and I do not always agree on the elusive and erudite philosophies that attempt to define how the world should work to be a better place, I can say with conviction in the aspects of the Hindu Dharma or the Christian Golden Rule the love of my life is an avatar on this earth manifesting these constructs. If this was just a game I would not be writing so passionately. Chris’s passion is that this is not just a game but an exercise for life and that it does not matter that they won or lost but that the girls did the best they could do and challenged themselves to excel. I am so proud to be a part of her life and her passion. Congrats Chris – Love you (PS. Yes I am still on the computer) Of course where would salt be without the pahper! I also have to include my respects to Donna Alexander. It is a thankless job administering, organizing and corresponding to set up these events.
