I can relate to this. When I became a mother, I thought in order to be a good mother I had to give up the fun side of myself, that doing things I enjoy was selfish and would have to stop. As a result I stopped writing, dating my husband, playing tennis, and many other things. To a certain degree, I stopped laughing. The responsibility weighed me down and I showed my children that living is not joyful. Slowly though I am coming to realize that my children can sometimes wait for my attention because I am doing something that fills my cup, something that makes me happy. Dont get me wrong, being a mother does involve sacrifice. BIG TIME. But my children are learning, as I am, that I am a better mother when sometimes, just sometimes I come first.
