I can remember a time when you would enter the church and people - TopicsExpress

I can remember a time when you would enter the church and people were already at the alter praying. They had been there for hours, covering the entire church in prayer, creating an atmosphere of anointing! These were the days before the lights and smoke. The days when worship teams were not performing artists and Preachers had a Spirit of Excellence. Ministers did not preach seeker friendly messages, but, gave a word from the Lord. They got their sermons from studying the Bible and getting in the presence of The Lord, not from readers digest! The days when the anointing was so strong on a man or woman of God you knew they were a Christian as soon as they walked in the room! The days before programs, a time when the music was inspired by The Holy Ghost and not rehearsed. The Spirit would move upon someone and they would sing a song that was on the heart of God! (Now, Im not talking about open Mic night where Sister Bucket Mouth and Sister Do Little, Judge A lot are trying to out do each other, competing for center stage so they can draw attention to themselves!) I am talking about anointed songs, sang from the heart! These songs were for an audience of One.. Jesus! I can remember after a song there would come a Holy Hush over the church. Everyone knew God was about to speak to his people. We knew how to tarry and wait for him. How to sit in silence and not get in a hurry. A word from him was worth waiting for! A word from him was more important that anything a Man could say or sing! We would wait, with nothing on our mind but Jesus! Then when a man or woman spoke by the inspiration of The Holy Ghost there was no second guessing, you knew it was a word from God! It would shake you to the very core of your being!! You would feel it before you could hear it! And in that moment, nothing else mattered but what your King had to say! It would be a word that forever changed your life! Then we would sit in silence, no one saying another word! Gods presence would move in the building and minister personally to people. One person after another would receive a touch from the Lord. No body had to do a thing because Jesus himself was touching his people! Then like dominos people would fall out under the heavy weight of his Glory! We would lay there while The Holy Ghost did a deep work in our heart! I remember another time his presence moved in a church like a thick blanket! You could see a thick cloud hover over you as his train filled the temple! The minister would take the pulpit and preach Jesus with a passion that ignited the words he spoke like fire from the alter of God! Changes took place in the hearers as he sent forth his word and healed and delivered his people! Sinners would run to the alter in repentance and Saints would fall on their face in adoration! When I was 13 years old I remember praying at the alter with Pastor Charles Rose and it was as if I was standing in water, grabbing a naked 220 power line! Electricity surged through my body until I thought I would explode! I could not contain the Power that raced through me! People were people of prayer! They worshiped God for who he is not what they could get! They sought his face and not his hands! And we had true revival!!! However, I am not looking for those days again! I am expecting MORE!! God wants to move in this day and time in a way that will make the day of Pentecost look like a Sunday School class! He wants to manifest his presence in a way that multitudes feel his power and there is visible fire shooting from our churches! We are on the brink of the greatest move of God this world has ever seen!! All he is waiting for is us!! Hes waiting for his people to Hunger and Thirst once more for Righteousness! He is waiting on us to unitedly cry out for his presence! To pray until the walls dividing his body crumbles and the ground shakes! He is waiting for us to tarry in his presence and not rush in and out like we have something better to do!! What are we waiting for? What has caused us to be so complacent? Where has our passion and hunger gone? Its time to return to our first love!! When we draw near to him, he promises to come near to us!
