I cannot remember if I already posted this; if so , repetition is the mother of learning. Here the learning is how indefensibly amazing it is to watch the Aurora Borealis in pics or in their full glory as they perform their majestic and ever so humble dance over your head and horizon in the cold winter in Lapland. When you are there, on a cross country ski track, with your loved ones, at 3 PM in pitch dark, with only snow bound trees around you and a heard of reindeer nearby attentive only to their leader, the one with the bell; it is magic. For a moment you forget that your nose and toes and fingers are freezing, you have to pee and you are getting hungry; your American Husband and your two American Teen Aged Kids are just as mesmerized. All four of us are just standing on our skis in a quiet awe and an unending respect for the universe and the cosmos. The gods of that amazing moment are the gods of the epic stories of the Kalevala, the ancient Greeks, the Chinese, the Indians, the best sellers of the Jewish monotheism of Kabbala and their off spring Christianity and Islam have not made the world as we know it a better place y
