I cannot tell you how many times God has lifted me up, picked me up, pulled me up when I had fallen and was as close to broken as any shattered dream can be. Therefore, my faith is not grounded in the seamless life of a person blessed from the beginning and sheltered by walls of comfort. I do not believe because I learned to do so in a classroom or a cloister. Like many of you, I have faith because I am a survivor, because I know God was there when I needed help the most, because I have been redeemed and loved and healed and set free. It is experience that brings me to pray. I am a second chance soul and grateful for it.
