I cant believe I even found this treasure but had to share it with you theater gems who love this stuff as much as I do. To have seen this live would have been a dream come true and even in this video that was clearly snuck in you can not help but feel George Hearns energy as he chews the scenery and storms out of the theater. Theoni V.Aldredges Tony Award winning costumes are so wonderfully ostentatious and Arthur Laurents masterful staging here is a valentine to simplicity and that less can in fact be more. No chandelier, helicopter, or floating bubble...just a man. Jerry Herman as a composer and Donald Pippin as a orchestrator were just the perfect marriage two artists who know how to grab an audience. This was in the first year of the run. The quality is not the best but thankfully its the full scene. Again not the best quality but who cares.
