I cant believe it has been 1 year since Austin passed. Thinking and praying for his precious family today, especially his sweet mother. She was and is a WONDERFUL mother whom I have learned so much from for my parenting Carter. Daelyn Larche-Sigman last night as I went to bed this memory came to mind. It was a sweet reminder why Austin was Carters buddy.... Carter was inpatient in Jan 2013 dealing with a lot of pain. It was time to do another care, for I believe his catheter, which was extremely painful and frightening for Carter. Austin was there at the time after getting some blood and had stopped in to say goodbye. As Carter was crying Austin sat in his wheelchair beside Carters bed and encouraged him. He handed over his stuffed lion that had perfectly smooth hair and let Carter smooth out the hair some more. It was something that brought him comfort and he wanted to pass that on to Carter. Through it all, Austin talked to Carter and tried to calm the fears as much he could. A few weeks after Austin passed we found a small miniature lion that was just like Austins. Carter will work to smooth his hair, just the same as Austin had done with his. It may seem small to some, but that day in the hospital sticks out clearly in my mind. It meant so much to me because Austin could relate to Carters pain far more than any of us could.
