I cant believe its almost August. What a glorious summer so far. Weve had a broken air conditioner but have lucked out to find ourselves in 70-80 degree temperatures for most of the past two months. Canceled our internet and instead read a novel a week. Hilarious, chaotic, tiring, and joyful days alone with my four sons--much needed time together without anywhere to be, anything to do but move into a new daily rhythm: hours of lego play, reading, baking, weeding, napping. My first summer without dissertation work or teaching, and I have to say, I might not teach a summer again, finances permitting. And the only thing better than quitting a PhD is finishing one--so much guilt-free fiction all summer, Facebook.
