I cant do the meaning of months without the meaning of the days of the week, so... Ill begin with today and post about each day on that day :) ~Sunday~ The first day of the week according to the bible. Sunday comes from Old English Sunnandæg which literally means suns day. In Latin it is dies solis which means day of the sun. The Romans worshipped the Sun on this day which is why around 300AD Constantine, a former Sun worshipper (I dont believe he ever stopped) created a new Universal Church (Catholic, which means Universal) which adopted all sorts of pagan traditions including Sunday worship. In this way they could differentiate themselves from Jews whom many Romans hated. Changing the Sabbath from the 7th day Saturday to the day of the Sun was forced under penalty of death. Many true Christians who refused to keep the day of the Sun instead of the 7th day known as Saturday (as commanded by God) in Rome were put to death. French word for Sunday is: dimanche From Old French diemenche, from Latin dies Dominica (“day of the Lord”). In Europe many have adopted a relatively new ISO-8601 Standard week which makes Sunday the 7th day of the week. There is currently talk in Europe to force Sunday rest on everyone and make it illegal (that is, allow businesses to fire you) if you keep any other day as a day of rest. You will no longer have the right to keep any other day you wish as a day of rest, only Sunday will be allowed. In the past this wasnt allowed to be enforced because of religious freedom, but the thoughts now are to enforce it due to economic reasons, and it seems to be gaining ground based on those merits.
