I cant even concentrate on writing my domestic violence story. When I heard that women were wearing Ray Rice jerseys.....and saying that well, thats his PERSONAL life. You know -- -since this is my personal page essentially, I am taking a second to say this. You obviously cant save someone from ignorance. You cannot lead someone to see through your lenses unless they truly are ready to do so. Some never will, and thats life. But I never thought Id see a day when we defended a human being for violently knocking another human out, by saying, hes a football player - not our business. MLK once said that its not our words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends that well remember. Shouldnt we all look out for each other? Isnt this about cultural acceptance of violence and abuse? And since WHEN did we turn our backs when someone deserves punished, and dialogue spurred, just because we like him as a FOOTBALL player???? And for the women who were interviewed saying - - women shouldnt hit men either, so they were both wrong........someone convinced you of that statement. I know men whove been in abusive relationships too, whove been pummeled by their wives, and they have openly told me, I walk away. No one should hit anyone, but a man telling a women, well you hit me first.. - - - is a man who needs intervention. A good-hearted, educated, compassionate man doesnt even THINK, perhaps Ill smash her in the face and then drag her body as far as I can and then release it and stare at her. We all get angry, but if we begin to ignore what is right in front of us, do we then ignore and dismiss child abuse too?? Because abuse usually spurs more abuse, and in many, many forms. Can you tell Im completely blown away by this..........
