I cant help but take a moment to acknowledge the irony, power, - TopicsExpress

I cant help but take a moment to acknowledge the irony, power, sadness and excitement of landing in Florida today to perform Pavement this week...a work created more than 2 years ago...conceptualized long before the senseless deaths of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner, Mike Brown...and so many others... After arriving home in the US with my company of fearless collaborators after 4 weeks of touring abroad - Im thankful and humbled by the opportunity to share this dance again at home... to acknowledge the past, the injustices of the present....and an unforeseen future.. Watching the tragic events from afar has made me so frustrated - the cyclical nature of perpetual inequality. People have been fighting for so long, but continue to fight and it’s the unity shown from people around the world who are standing together in a hope for something better that makes me believe and feel prideful more than ever... The audiences weve had the opportunity to share our work with over the years (and recently overseas) have been reaffirming and inspiring to me. I continue to hope that our art can be a catalyst for conversation and change. We are in a time where I have to recognize the power of Hope...and the humility in Prayer. I look forward to sharing more, loving more, fighting more, learning more...and most importantly...living more...in 2015 and beyond.
