I cant help but wonder why the age of 18 is such a speed bump for me. Karrie is growing up. Shes fine with it. Shes actually thriving. I should feel as though Im doing a good job, since she is so well adjusted. Maybe its the fact that she is my youngest. Its really been difficult for me, this having my baby grow up stuff. For the past 24 years or so, my entire focus has been on raising my daughters. It hasnt been easy. It hasnt been horrible, either. I wouldnt have traded anything (ok, maybe a little less stress being a single parent!). But trying to regain my footing and rediscover more of a life for me outside my kids has been so emotional for me. Ive been blessed to have a fantastic job and wonderful people in my life. A part of me is secretly crying out to be as needed as a mom as I used to be. I guess this, too, will pass.
