I cant make it because Im helping organize the following 10/2 event: At 1-year anniversary of its arrival, Walmarts Boulder Neighborhood Market ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is Still UnWelcome here -- Help CSERB send out the message on Oct. 2!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Many months before Walmart snuck its Neighborhood Market into Boulder in the fall of 2013, citizens of the community came together to investigate and challenge the companys possible entry. The Coalition for Social & Environmental Responsibility in Boulder (CSERB), formed that summer, gave the Neighborhood Market an UnWelcome Party on its opening day and has been protesting vigorously against the store and supporting Walmarts workers ever since. Now, one year later, CSERB will be reminding the company and area residents that Walmart is Still UnWelcome here. Help us mark the one-year anniversary of the arrival of the Neighborhood Market by joining our October 2 lunchtime demonstration at the Diagonal Plaza mall (28th & Iris). Well be meeting at 11:15 am (at the big donation bins across the parking lot from 24 Hour Fitness) and beginning the action at 11:30 am, ending at 1:30 pm. Activities will include sign- and banner-holding, singing and chanting, speeches, leafletting, and discussions with mall visitors. One special theme will be CSERBs Dirty Thirty reasons to boycott Walmart, another will be the status of Walmart associates struggles for better wages, more hours, more regular and transparent scheduling, and more humane working conditions. Our numbers will be increased by the participation of allies from Local 7 of the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW), OUR Walmart (the organization of Walmart workers), the economic justice group FRESC, and residents of two Denver suburbs currently facing the threat of possible new Walmarts.
