I casually made a comment this morning about the eventual implosion of the Sun in about 5 billion years or so. To my surprise the people I was talking to asked how could scientists possibly know that. They said that it was untestable, and arrogant of me to think that scientists knew, because they would just change their minds in a few years. I was flabbergasted at such a gross misunderstanding, and denial of Astrophysics. There are a few things this article got wrong. For instance; according to my research, it was mostly electromagnetism, and not gravity that initially caused the stars and planets to form. Also I believe it said that the sun would explode, and thats not completely accurate. It will shunt mass, and then implode eventually. But for my purposes, the article is good enough to make my point. universetoday/18847/life-of-the-sun/
