I chose this video because it is relevant to the previous topic, Subcultural Style that we learned in the class. In this video, Japan’s one of subcultures, Shironuri is introduced with Minori who is Japanese Shironuri artist. She explains that Shironuri is a type of makeup and painting face in white. She also says that there are some people paint their face in yellow, blue, black, and other colors in japan. I think Shironuri is a great example of subcultural style because we learned from the class that subcultures are groups that belong to a larger culture, but differ from mainstream society and they are also considered deviant by main culture. Minori says that she has many friends who do Shironuri. Although people who do Shironuri live in Japan, which is a larger culture, they are making community in subculture groups. Another thing that I want to mention about this video is that media is definitely helping subculture known to main culture. The uploader of the video is named Tokyo Fashion and about 5,000 people liked video while only about 25 people disliked it.
