I clearly realize that I post some humorous and at times idiotic pictures and comments but I hope that you’ll read this post and understand I’m serious and it is from my heart. I’m trying to do whatever one individual can do in order to stop this horrible violence that is occurring with young people and others as well. I literally hate to turn on the news anymore for fear that I will listen to one more school or military base or theatre or whatever senseless tragedy. These tragedies are no longer aberrations but rather occur so frequently and affect all geographic regions, races, genders, ages, social classes, etc. It has reached a level that we ALL should be worried regardless of where we may live or work. I believe Facebook can be used as a wonderful forum for discussion and a positive promoter of change if used properly. So with that in mind, I hope that we will ALL consider and commit to become much more cognizant of anything we hear from friends and family that may hint of ANYONE ( regardless of AGE ) being in distress or becoming silent or becoming withdrawn, etc. We NEED to LISTEN more carefully to EVERYONE around us and if it makes us uncomfortable to engage and ask more definitive questions, so be it. You and I may just ask the right question at the right time and someone might just open up and it could be the catalyst that generates the next step for discussion and them seeking help or allowing us to help facilitate that help. Candidly, my generation was so blessed to grow up where fights were settled with fists and a few lost teeth and you shook hands the next day. As a result of all the technology and social networking, the younger generation are fighting issues that are SO much more difficult and complex than what I or many of the older generation ever had to endure. The BULLYING is just one component of it. I’m simply heartbroken over the stabbings today ( I wish I could say I was shocked but unfortunately I’m not ). I prayed to GOD that this will somehow stop and my answer was to post something. My intention is not to make this a religious post but rather to ask for everyone’s help in being more conscious of your neighbor and friends and family and getting MORE DA*N INVOLVED even if it is uncomfortable! GOD BLESS US ALL!
