I could be wrong but it seems as if high school coaches are much less concerned with the character of their athletes and the role that the coach can have in transforming and mentoring the kids even off the field than ever before. Maybe I am just being an old man, but I expect more from a high school coach. The kids can play so long as they meet the minimum academic requirement and dont get arrested. Apart from that where is the encouragement to be better people, citizens, and family members. Sports is such a leverage for these kids. Theyd do anything to play and for these coaches. Honestly, if I could do it over again I would probably teach and coach because of the opportunity to be around the youth and teach when they most want to be taught. I am interested in other peoples thoughts. Maybe I am crazy ... Well I am, but crazier than normal.
