I did a little bit more than just swimming. This month and on the 4th of October, Im celebrating my mums 10th year fight against cancer. Ill be swimming for her in a 2k event for Macmillam Cancer Support and Im doing a series of actions to... Boost her for, at least, 5 years more! Today, Ive shaved my head. Its quite symbolic. My mum had this amazing long brown hair with locks and after 6 years of chemo was never the same. I remember her strength. Before starting radiotherapy, she went to the hairdressers and had a short cut. She said Im going to lose my hair, but Im losing it on my own terms. My mums hair never returned to its previous glory. My hair will grow again, this is nothing. But for now, this is what I needed to do. Shes the strongest person Ive ever meet, the fiercest of Amazons... My hero. Nor me or my mum have benefited from the outstanding work and support provided by Macmillam, but there are out there many mums who do and sadly... Who will.
