I didnt find out until tomorrow...the next day, that is. Id gotten up on December 8th, 1980 gone to Elmira District Secondary School as normal and gone through my 10th Grade morning as I had any other morning. It was only as I was getting ready to walk home for lunch that I first heard any inkling of what had happened. Bonnie Bennett, who had the locker beside me.....Shot in the chest at least twice! God thats sick. How could anyone....? I still didnt even really know what was going on at that point and only found out when I got home and heard the noon news on TV. I spent my lunch hour in shock and disbelief. It took every nerve I could bundle not to just burst out in tears because I was home and, you know, 14 year old boys didnt cry in front of their parents. I know I went back to school. I have no memory of the afternoon. It may very well just be the passing of time but I also have no memory of having a memory of that afternoon. I suspect I was in a trance, simply making my way through. 34 years later I still dont know why it happened. I do know that I did eventuall cry...lots. Maybe even recently. https://youtube/watch?v=yN4Uu0OlmTg
