I didnt know until yesterday that Nike re-sponsored Vick a few years ago. I will never buy a Nike product again. I hope youll join me. I wrote to Nike and got a canned response about Vick being remorseful for his past mistakes. I replied: Thats a pathetic response. You know as well as I do that Vick has shown no true remorse. Let him go to Best Friends where the surviving dogs learned through years of rehabilitation to be dogs again. Let him hold one of those dogs, and I will consider that he could truly be remorseful. But better not, for the terror it would cause those poor dogs to see their torturer again. Nike has kept the sponsorship because they believe its profitable, and cares more about profit than the well-being of dogs. They chose not to make a clear statement that murdering innocent beings is incompatible with heroism. Fortunately, I believe there are enough dog lovers in the world that it will not be profitable. A whole lot of us are athletes too, and as we run beside our dogs, we will never forgive Nike any more than we forgive Vick.
