I disagree with P Diddy. Hip Hop was not born out of competition, - TopicsExpress

I disagree with P Diddy. Hip Hop was not born out of competition, but expression. Old school was fun, entertaining, and mostly non violent. There was never overt cynicism for competitors although there was competition. There was a mutual respect for peers and an appreciation for the genre that transcended capitalist dreams and personal glory. Although Magic and Bird competed fiercely during a game, they would often shake hands and/or hug at its conclusion. I dont know why it seems like modern hip hop artists spew hate filled lyrics that usually result in profanities and/or fights with colleagues. I think hip hop needs to assess its future by looking at the love and fun of its past
