I discovered Hermetic Philosophy after reading the Kybalion. It - TopicsExpress

I discovered Hermetic Philosophy after reading the Kybalion. It was referenced in a Rolling Stone interview with Owsley Bear Stanley. He was a major influence on the success of the Grateful Dead by being their early manager and later their sound man and helped initiate the counter culture by producing over a million hits of LSD in the mid to late 60s San Francisco. I read the interview because i am a big fan of the Dead and while I read the book I couldnt help but realize Ive had a lot of those revelation before under the influence of psychedelics while seeing the remaining members of the Dead. As I continued to see Phil Lesh and Bob Weir in concert the teaching took on even deeper meanings. Ive began to research the subject and their seemed to be quite a bit of occultists/ theosophists in the area at the same time as the hippies. There is also much reference to occult ideas in the psychedelic art at the time. My question to the group then is this does anyone know if the counter culture of the 60s/ and The Grateful Dead were initiated by Hermeticists/alchemist? Was it part of the nations achievement of the Great Work? An attempt to return to a more natural order and a less materialistic society. Is lsd an alchemical tincture to help us commune the spirit and the mind? Even the word Dead Head can be found in Alchemy. (In alchemy, Caput Mortuum (alternately called nigredo) signified a useless substance left over from a chemical operation such as sublimation and the epitome of decline and decay; alchemists represented this residue with a stylized human skull, a literal deaths head.) Just curious on any thoughts or insights this group may have, because Dead shows surely initiated me into my spiritual experience.
