I discovered a fab website the other month Mikes backyard nursery. It may be based in America but I still got some great tips from a guy who propagates thousands of plants to sell. Anyway, I am useless at taking plant cuttings - the only thing I manage to do with 90% success is Hebe :( Ive spent so much time trying to get Cornus cuttings to take and have only ever managed to get 1 to take. So I tried Mikes method a few months ago - get a plastic tub, drill drainage holes in the bottom, fill with coarse sand only, stick your cuttings in (cram em in really), water them well, insert the entire tub into a white plastic bag and leave it to do its thing away from direct sunlight. I forgot about these cuttings until recently and figured theyd all be dead by now but look - theyve well rooted :) I lost alot of the Weigela but I think its because I forgot about them but the Cornus are well rooted now :) Plus the sand makes them so easy to pull out :) I am doing this for all my cuttings from now on and the best bit is that you can cram them together more than you normally would :D
