I do agree that we should up the ante and elevate debate to more intellectual levels as the article says... the problems... most debaters care little about the god definition given in the book referenced and still use old doctrines even when that is the definition they accept, so only among well educated theologians is this common. Second, the rest of the outspoken religious debaters are for the most part, when outside of academic circles, conservative right-wing fundamentalists that believe god lives in the clouds and Noah and Moses were founding fathers.
