I do my best to be positive but I also am real. Every so often - TopicsExpress

I do my best to be positive but I also am real. Every so often somethings get to me and it seems as if we have had a lot occurring as of late. When something I feel is an injustice I am compelled to express it and then do my part on working through the issue, with the intent of ultimately helping others. In the world of a child who has long-term neurological deficits, such as Brendon, there are ongoing issues that must be addressed in order to achieve the childs highest potential. These issues are often compounded by medical expenses that one would wish be covered by insurance. The fact is they simply are not. My frustration comes from the knowledge that children often go without or families have to prioritize the needs of the child and often put other needs and wants on hold or erase them completely. As I wrote earlier in the week this is not an easy job, however, I wouldnt change it for anything. So tonight I may have a good cry and then in the morning have a newer perspective and a better focus. It is my dream that Cerebral Palsy and other neurological deficits move to the forefront because in my most humble opinion: When we treat human beings with deficits early on we can facilitate highly functioning, remarkable people who just may simply be the next Albert Einstein or Abraham Lincoln or Mother Theresa or Rosa Parks...but when we shut them out from the rest of the world or put up barriers by not helping them we are wasting precious potential. I am praying that God give me the strength and perseverance to fight this battle for our children!
