I do not fear spread of Ebola to the North American continent in - TopicsExpress

I do not fear spread of Ebola to the North American continent in general, or the US in particular, but we know that it is only a matter of time until it does. What concerns me at this time is that the US is so ill-prepared with antibiotics to treat or vaccines to prevent its spread, and people the fearing costs of medical services will delay seeking treatment when symptoms arise - a day delayed is one day too late. Obamascare has placed undue costs & restrictions on our once envied healthcare system and it has generated confusion & costs not previously paid by all parties - insurers, employers, labs, doctors, nurses and ultimately, patients. Due to Obamascares many complexities, people are more confused as to what is covered, when it is covered, how much is covered and what a treatment will cost. Due to large deductibles, many people no longer seek medical help when symptoms arise and do not do so unless & until convinced it is needed, but apparently 24 hours can be too long with Ebola. Due to Obamascare confusion, many people only go to a physician after rationalizing their potential out-of-pocket expenses, but a single day can mean exposure {if not infection} of the many living, caring, working, competing or otherwise in contact with an infected victim. What happens if Ebola mutates and becomes an airborne pathogen? How many more will be infected by a single days delay by confusion? Obamascare taxes, fees & recoveries have or will become impediments to pharmaceutical research & development. These biological activities are risky enough without adequate tort-reform, but try now to convince pharma & research labs that they cannot be sued if vaccines, antibiotics & medications do not work &/or carry significant side-effects. Without sufficient R&D by labs, and absent tort limitations, fast-track approvals and financial incentives such as tax-credits for R&D, why would a pharma enterprise risk income, balance sheet or shareholders equity to combat diseases like Ebola with a 90% mortality rate? If Obamascare costs, confusions & inconveniences cause many people to delay doctor or hospital visits in order to avoid costs, how many become infected in this mobile and crowded society? If pharma- & biotech companies have little incentive {post-tax profit} relative to risks {lawsuits}, why would they risk their business? If hospitals do not have either adequate facilities {incubation & isolation} or staff {specialized epidemiologists}, who will provide such care as necessary? Ebola coming to US, is not a fear, it is just a given. Ebola brought to US, not a fear, just matter of when. Ebola arriving in US, not a fear, just matter by whom. Ebola outbreak in US, not a fear, just Obamascare is.
