I do not know who asked for this beautiful day , but I certainly thank that person . absolutely gorgeous . I had determined in my mind that this night I was going to talk about a hero . I thought about this quite deeply , and had several on my mind . instead though , I think that I shall share with you a little about a personal hero of mine . as I write , there will be tears in my eyes and a deluge of memories , both painful and happy that I deal with . this hero came into this world on September 2, 1979 , greeted with love and welcomed , not just by family , but by a congregation of saints . for the first few years , his was the normal life of a most young boys . he had the companionship of two older brothers , and the wit and personality that endeared him to everyone around him . for some reason though , life decided to put him through a living hell. in 1986 , he lost his youngest brother, then his mom and daddy fell apart and divorced . shuttled between two parents , he managed to grow up strong . then came the death of his younger brother , and then , just after his 21st birthday ,the death of his only sister . after that came the discovery that he has cardiomyopathy . with all these forces against him , he has still managed to excel in his business and in his life as a father and husband . somehow , he has overcome and yet has managed to give me comfort when I lost 3 of my children , a brother and then my wife . he has been a consistent source of strength to me , and although distant in miles , never a moment away in need . and so , tonight , I want to proclaim my son , Nick (Nicholas ) Cribb , as one of my greatest heroes . I never tell him enough , but anyone that that can survive all that he has gone through , endured the slings and arrows that he has absorbed , and yet become the man and the person that he is, this man deserves my appreciation , my gratitude and my undying love . Nick , you are a true hero of mine . I love you and hope to see you shortly . I will be talking about some more of my heroes as we go along , this night I just had to thank this man , my son , for his love for me . so look out , John , Troy or Bill , you may be next . I love you all too . and so facebook friends, I will now bid you a good night . it has been a long day , but a day filled with blessings and fellowship . to my friends , my family and my children and grandchildren , I love you all . my prayers and best wishes go with each of you . may your night be peaceful and filled with the love of family and friends , may your dreams be of longings fulfilled and your tomorrows be blessed . love you all .
