I do not understand why people react to the word privilege like it is a four letter word. Recognizing your privilege does not mean you are a bad person. It does not mean you are a bigot. and it doesnt mean you have lived a life without struggle and hardships. it simply means in the obstacle course of life, you got to float over a few hurdles that other have to work hard to climb. Equating privilege with guilt IS focusing on the negative. You can choose to look at your privilege as a blessing and ask yourself how you can take advantage of your privilege to be a better ally and work for those who have not been afforded the same privileges in this life. ~Melissa Rae Brown-Doyon
