I dont believe speaking in tongues is still being used as a gift. In all cases I have seen it done it was not done as scriptures says it is to be done. Really it doesnt matter if you do or dont but what does matter is if it is Biblical. Here is the problem, do we all believe the scriptures or do some of us follow a fairy tale Jesus? 1 Corinthians 14:27–28 27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret; 28 but if there is no interpreter, he must keep silent in the church; and let him speak to himself and to God. This is written by Paul for proper church order. 1 Corinthians 14:28 says they must remain silent if there is no interpreter. Also in the Bible when tongues was used they spoke in a different language of this world not hog wash. 1 Corinthians 13:8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away.. So we can see 1 Corinthians 13:8 also says tongues will cease. So we know they will cease because the Bible says they will. Now the real question is does God still need tongues for His purpose. I believe the Bible is all we need for God The Father, Lord Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit to lead us to the truth by the holy scriptures. I really dont think they are needed anymore In any case no matter what you believe we are told not to go beyond the scriptures. So if it doesnt line up then we are to reject it. 1 Corinthians 4:6 Now these things, brethren, I have figuratively applied to myself and Apollos for your sakes, so that in us you may learn not to exceed what is written, so that no one of you will become arrogant in behalf of one against the other. This verse says it all! Ephesians 4:14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; We have been divided by the enemy and still are because we all are fighting against one another because we have our own believes. A lot of it is because we are going beyond what is written! 1 Corinthians 14:33 for God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints There is so much confusion in the Churches today and it is not of God but by the power of the ruler of this world. We need to stand in truth and not what is believed by those outside of the scriptures, stay away from the ones who seek to deceive us and test it against the scriptures. We must avoid religion and pray for the truth to be in us as Jesus prayed us to be one with Him and the Father. Religion condemns and the truth set us free! By the way, satan has no power over God nor can he stop anything God has planned. God rules over all His creation including satan and uses it all for His purposes. Just had to put that in there people, we give satan way to much credit.
