I dont do the tag your it thing on Fakebook but James Wilcox tagged me so... What are ten books that have effected you or stayed with you? Ok, in no order at all: I could just list all of his work except his poetry but The Art of the Commonplace: The Agrarian Essays of Wendell Berry was my introduction to his work so there it is. amazon/The-Art-Commonplace-Agrarian-Wendell/dp/1593760078 The Complete Stories of Flannery OConnor. amazon/The-Complete-Stories-Flannery-OConnor/dp/0374515360 Again everything he has ever written but The Innocents Abroad by Mark Twain is the right kind of sarcasm and ironic gentle cynical humor. amazon/The-Innocents-Abroad-Wordsworth-Classics/dp/1840226366 The Myth of Sisyphus by Albert Camus amazon/The-Myth-Sisyphus-Other-Essays/dp/0679733736 The style puts some people off but I found it compelling, Blindness by Jose Saramago amazon/Blindness-Harvest-Book-Jose-Saramago/dp/0156007754 Again, a hard writer for some, not because of his style but rather his content, and one for whom movie adaptations while they dont do justice also dont butcher his work. I havent read everything he has written but what I have read is amazing Cormac McCarthy Child of God amazon/Child-God-Cormac-McCarthy/dp/0679728740 Chuck Palahniuks Rant amazon/Rant-Oral-Biography-Buster-Casey/dp/0307275833 At the risk of coming off as a uber nerd... From Dawn to Decadence: 500 Years of Western Cultural Life, 1500 to the Present by Jacques Barzun amazon/From-Dawn-Decadence-Western-Cultural/dp/0060928832 Gotta add another Wendall Berry book A Place on Earth amazon/A-Place-Earth-Novel/dp/1582431248/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409370685&sr=8-1&keywords=A+place+on+earth Well thats only 9 I guess but so it goes.
