I dont do this too often but I wanted to tell a little story on the bookface here about the Heartist song Manipulate. We worked on this song together in Jan of 2013 but I remember it like it was yesterday. It was one of my favorite experiences with a band because we truly went to battle together. It must have been a 20 hour day. I just moved into a temp studio and this was one of first things done there. I believe 10-11 hours into the session we were working on vocal ideas and we notice a rat come up from the control room floor where cables ran through. We all freaked out and chased this rat around the studio for over a half-hour with an empty coffeemate box. (To move it not kill it). Bryce Beckley and Evan Ranallo took control of this because I wanted nothing to do with that creature!! The vocal takes Bryce was doing at the wee hours of the night were game-changing and were making the hairs stand up on our arms. Lyrically the song is so strong and the journey we went through to get there was very therapeutic. We finished around 5am the next day and usually a cooling off period is smart after a long day, but I was so excited I sent it right away that I just sent it to Roadrunner anyway. Since they are on the east coast they responded right away saying we were in fire. I couldnt sleep because I was so stoked on what we did. It ended being the demo version of the song but regardless check the track out in my previous share post. #rippages
