I dont have a picture of Buffalo Red Calf Woman( not to be confussed with White Calf).. But I used this instead..We often hear stories of men in battle, but the women did their part as well...She was a Northern Cheyenne woman. She saved her wounded brother Chief Comes in Sight in The Battle of Rosebud ...That is what the U.S.named it but, the Cheyenne named the battle the fight where the girl saved her brother..the story is that in1876 the Cheyenne and Lakota were allies in this battle under Crazy Horse...The battle was long, and the Cheyenne and Lakota were going to surrender ..they had started to retreat when she rode into battle to rescue her brother. She did and carried him to safety..Her strength made the others rally again and they defeated General George Crook. She also fought along side her husband Black Coyote, with the Lakota at the Battle of Little Big Horn ...After 100 years of storytelling the Cheyenne stated that she had knocked Custer off his horse right before he was shot and killed in battle..She died of Malaria in1878..Brave, Strong woman warrior...Aho
