I dont know how I missed this album in 2009 -- an album produced by the brilliant Joe Henry on New Orleans R&B legend Allen Toussaint perusing the history of New Orleans (and beyond) jazz with an incredibly sympathetic band including Don Byron on clarinet, Nicholas Payton on trumpet and Marc Ribot on guitar. Well, not missed it exactly, but listened to it a coupla times, enjoyed it, and put it on the shelf without it making a very strong impression. Took it out again tonight. Holy s*#t !
