I dont know much about Robin Williams. I do believe he had a lot - TopicsExpress

I dont know much about Robin Williams. I do believe he had a lot of great happiness and joy in his life. Its clear he struggled with drink and addiction. There was both darkness and light. I dont think people should assume that behind every joke he told or funny action he did to make somebody smile, that there was always some sadness being disguised or portray him as the tragic clown. I think he would be unhappy if thats the way people chose to remember him. He said himself No clinical depression, no. No. I get bummed, like I think a lot of us do at certain times. You look at the world and go, Whoa. Other moments you look and go, Oh, things are okay.” I dont think he was lying or covering up some clinical mental illness when he said that. I think he was being genuine. Then came a time when things all got too much. Depression is an extremely dangerous and complex illness which shouldnt be disputed. But never underestimate or downplay the power of plain old sadness. I think its important for people to be aware that even those short lived yet inevitable moments in our lives when we feel so low that it seems theres little point in us living and were filled with painful and confusing emotions and helplessness (and most of us, if not all have been there) Even these moments can be enough to push us over the edge. It doesnt always take clinical depression to make somebody suicidal.
