I dont know why Im on Facebook at midnight, but I am. I just saw a news story about a little boy with autism who wandered out from his home at night and was found two days later, not alive. Thats a scary thing for a mother to read, but scarier still when its a daily possibility. The comments that people wrote in response to this story were a mix of condolences and hurtful blame shifting. Its sad, but there are plenty of people who have no idea the kind of supervision these kids require. If it werent harmful to Noah, Id like to see one of those judgmental people to try to watch him-just for one day. Today, he snuck out of the house twice and opened climbed into the trunk of Juans car and closed it on himself. He wore his batman costume to the park and realized that he couldnt use the bathroom with it on, so he started to walk home (at least thats what he told me) he only wanted to eat candy all day...and we didnt have any. (Not that I would let him, but every bite was a fight) he unleashed the dog twice and Juan had it chase tucker through the neighborhood. Its not easy. Its exhausting. Mommies need sleep, its not like its legal to tie them down at night (super dangerous...especially in case of a fire) so I dont know why Im rambling on, its just that...I dont know, the whole thing makes me sad, and that poor mom who has devoted her life to keeping up with a baby like that gets blamed for sleeping through the night. Its not her fault.
