I dont like talking about EFF anymore, but I am going to speak my mind on this one. The abuse that is being suffered by Fighter Lufuno Gogoro breaks my heart. You see, it never hurt me when some of us were being called spies and mules of the ANC. All my life Ive been called an undercover agent of the ANC by comrades of the pan Afrikanist/Black Consciousness bloc. And a part of me understood why. I am first to acknowledge that 99% of people in my circles, both personal and political, are ANC members and leaders. I have close relations with most components of the mass democratic movement. Long before I was a member of SASCO, I was attending its conferences. The same with the YL. Although I was its strong critic, I was able to get accreditation to even the Gallagher conference when some loyal members of the organisation couldnt even be in close proximity to the venue. So I know that my frequenting of MDM spaces can be regarded as suspicious and therefore, give some twisted legitimacy to the popular perception that Im an ANC person. So I can take it when EFF members use this to deal with me, I understand. But Lufuno cannot be painted with the same brush. That man has stood by the EFF through thick and thin. Even before the EFF was born, he stood as a lone warrior in the battle for the restoration of the economic freedom movement. Lufuno sacrificed everything for the EFF. I will always remember that first consultative meeting of the EFF at Protea Hotel Wanderers where he stood up and pleaded with us to not be afraid of launching EFF, no matter what the consequences. He has been loyal to the EFF even when it wouldve made sense for him to cut his losses and abandon ship. And now today, this very same Lufuno, is the one whose name is being dragged through the mud and hes been labeled an askari and an ANC mule? Lufuno Gogoro? This same man who walked away from a well-paying job with his qualifications in his pocket to mobilise for the EFF? This same Lufuno is now an enemy of the revolution? By the sweat of his brow, this mans great contributions to the organisation built the EFF base in Gauteng province. No one must dare take that away from him, because it would be an economisation of truth. Lufuno and I have fought on opposite sides many times, we differ on some fundamental issues. But I know this man, and I know that hes NOT what hes being painted as. What is happening is wrong! It is wrong what is being done to this man. I know without a doubt that one day history will have its say. It will speak of a Lufuno who believed in the EFF when some of us had ceased to. It will speak of a Lufuno who fought for a just cause. And above all, history will absolve this fighter...!
