I dont normally bleat about things on Facebook, but I just walked - TopicsExpress

I dont normally bleat about things on Facebook, but I just walked out of a panel discussion about the current state of media and journalism with my serious pants on. The ABC and SBS are assets to this country, and the governments cuts to these services spell grave concerns not only for leading Australian journalists who are losing their jobs, but for the industry as a whole. Both these stations provide platforms for a rare form of journalism in Australia - discerning, balanced and responsible. Neither are anti-government, nor are they left or right wing; theyre simply providing something we all need as part of a functioning democracy. We gotta do something, guys! Even if its just tuning in to ABC news instead of Big Brother once a week, or telling your younger siblings to like ABC and SBS on Facebook. Above all, recognizing the difference between these stations and something like Fox News is invaluable. A world without things like the ABC would be a real spooky world.
