I dont normally get into April Fools pranks, but today, something got into me and I pulled a GOOD one on one set of staff at one of my group homes. We had our weekly staff meeting today and at the end of the meeting I told them I had something important to share. I looked around the table and told them that I had had a long conversation with the Executive Director yesterday and that I had decided that it was time for me to submit my resignation. I have been with our agency for almost 9 years. I told them that, and that I am tired, and that while I have learned a lot, and will miss them all, as well as the residents...that it is simply time for me to move on. You could have heard a pin drop at the table. The house manager and the Social Worker gasped. One of the newer staff looked at me and said, this is a joke, right? I got all teary eyed, and my chin wiggled, and I said no, its not. I tearfully thanked them for all their dedication, hard work, and one of the other staff said This is wrong....when Linda stops caring, something is VERY wrong!!. I looked around the table and told them that my last day would be April 1.....2015. It took them a minute and then I said GOTCHA!! The staff member who said that it was wrong when I stopped caring grabbed me, with tears in his eyes and THAT was NOT funny!! I thought it was!!! Needless to say we all had a good laugh, after they recovered from the shock. Made my day to know that they all really DO care!!!
