I dont normally go on a posting binge but I want to share about an answered prayer. True story. I have been pretty ticked off about life in general for about 2 weeks. Tired of fighting for the same old ground over and over, just trying to make things better. Tired of watching others not taking things seriously, but getting ahead while I was left behind, etc. Just plain old sour grapes on my part. Grumpy. It led to frustration which led to anger which in turn led to zero tolerance for ANYTHING wrong ANYWHERE by ANYBODY. That led to little things pissing me off as much as big things. This led straight to more gray hair and hypertension. Then I had an epiphany! I realized that I cant control anything but myself, and I was not doing a very good job with that. Trying to change without instead of within. So I said Lord, GIVE me some patience. MISTAKE. DONT EVER DO THAT. I received, instead, the opportunity to be patient. Lets just say it was a missed opportunity. I flunked. So as I was driving to work this morning, actually waiting for the car in front of me to turn, I said Lord, GET me through the day without anger. 2 minutes later, I am still waiting for the guy in the car in front of me to quit putting on his makeup, hang up the phone, quit playing with himself, or whatever it was he was doing, and get out of my freaking way. I actually rolled down the window and yelled at him to get the hell out of the way so I could get to work. As soon as it came out of my mouth, I KNEW I had been tested and had FAILED miserably. 3 seconds later I said Sorry Lord, HELP me get through the day without being angry and throw in a little wisdom if you will. I had a few tests tossed my way but, through a little effort on my part, I was able to laugh through them without getting mad or frustrated. The lesson I learned is that Jesus will help see you through, but he doesnt expect to do ALL the work. We have to pull on the load too, and in the same direction He is. Also, be careful what you ask for!! So now I say Thanks for all of the help today Lord. Lets do it again tomorrow!
