I dont normally post very personal messages however I am so appalled at this that I feel its justified. My dad was admitted to Ninewells a week ago, he is extremely ill and very confused, he has very little short term memory and therefore is a danger to himself. I called him on his mobile around an hour ago to say Id be down to visit around 6, only for him to tell me hed walked out the hospital and was having a pint? He didnt even know if he was still in his PJs or how hed got there! :-( Immediately I call the hospital to be told that they hadnt even noticed hed gone? They had taken him for a scan a few hours ago and just presumed he must still be there? And now in his befuddled state hes refusing to return to the hospital and they are willing to allow this to happen as he has free will what about the fact that THAT free will May see him in a coffin in the very near future? Hes been so confused he had been lighting cigarettes in his hospital bed and not been able to feed himself or take medication yet he is deemed fit to return home? Im disgusted and shocked! Ward 5 sort yourself out.
