I dont really write on my page anymore unless I really have something to say. If anyone visits my page, I usually have quotes and inspirational statements from others who positively depict what I want to say or how I am feeling so I just simple share. Today, I am so overcome with emotion from Lupita Nyongos Oscar win for best Supporting Actress. There has been and will continue to be a lot of buzz about this particular Actress, for good reason! Her portrayal of the character Patsey, was just AWESOME. With everything that we now know about about Lupita, I know that her life lessons of self love and knowing ones self garnered her honest depiction and true characterization. How else can one be as convincing as she was about an experience that took place in history that one has not experienced themselves? YES, she won an Oscar for her portrayal of a slave girl. And, YES we can look at it as the typical Hollywood antics in not seeing or casting us in far more sophisticated and eclectic roles, which is indicative of what we have evolved into today, but I choose to see it for no more or no less than what it is: an accurate depiction of a history that I cannot deny. By all who was involved in this film. Lupita has now set the bar a bit higher than all those he came before her. At least for me she has. I am looking forward to diverse roles from Lupita and I dont think she will disappoint me. I am also looking for more talented people of color to step up and not only aspire to be in front of the cameras, but we need you behind the scenes as Writers, Producers, Directors, Casting Agents, Production & Crew, and etc. Im just being honest.
