I dont remember if I shared this story, but if I did, Im sharing - TopicsExpress

I dont remember if I shared this story, but if I did, Im sharing it with different intentions today. At one of my places of employment, I basically get to watch scuba divers for a few hours a week. The instructor is either Polish or Czech (forgive me my Polish friends for not knowing). The instructor has come to like me. Wants me to take the class, which is pretty expensive, to instruct with them one day. He tells me to go back to school. He says I should go into engineering (thats what he did), so I told him my interests. I told him that I wanted to major in Political Science, but I decided that theres not many jobs in that field, so Id rather not. He basically agreed while looking at me like I was an idiot for even thinking that. I told him that I fancy politics. I mean, I hate politics, but thats because I dislike our politicians. I told him how I ran for city government, and part of his response everyone should hear. First, he applauded me, like many do. They say politics is a scary and cut throat field, and you know what? It is. He told me that he wants me to run again. Run now. Dont wait. I told him that I want a better job, and he said, No. He told me that he would print my flyers and donate $1,000 to my campaign. That much money would buy everything I need and maybe a tux (lol), but thats not the part everyone needs to hear. That part is why he thinks I should run. Because people that are going to make legitimate change are afraid. By showing Im not afraid, he supports me. He supports me because hes afraid. Because he not only knows that hes already limited to certain offices, but because politics scares him. When you go to vote, you probably noticed that some categories had only one name. Why? Because smart people are afraid. Because kind people are afraid. Theyre afraid of the limelight, afraid of the pressure, and afraid of the money. I dont vote in those categories with only one selection. No one should. Thats an easy way to get the right candidates elected while simultaneously saying, Im done with this flawed system. People running unopposed need opposition, and it could be, should be you.
