I dont say a whole lot about my time in the Air Force because I - TopicsExpress

I dont say a whole lot about my time in the Air Force because I dont want it to sound like bragging. But those 24 years meant a lot to me and the family. I went in with the idea I would spend four years and get out. I was basically avoiding the draft into the Army. (I got my draft notice the day after enlisting - whew!) I thought I would try to become a clerk typist or something. However, the AF decided I would become a Russian linguist and then an instructor in applying the language to our mission. Amazingly I found myself really liking the Air Force, my career, and our mission. I was stationed in four locations in Germany - Hof, Rimbach, Augsburg, and West Berlin. Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the wall coming down and we left a few years before that happened. I was privileged to achieve the top enlisted rank of CMSgt (E9), a rank only 1% of AF enlisted achieve. I am thankful for all the fantastic men and women I served with during my career. I can think of only three I would rather not have served with and one of those was a spy for the other side who ended up defecting (but we got him back after the collapse). I wish a very happy Veterans Day tomorrow to all my fellow men and women veterans. I dont have very many pictures of myself in uniform, but here are a few.
