I dont see this as some bold decision to preserve a dying part of our culture. I see it as Christopher Nolan being a bit of a cinema-technology Luddite and Paramount being a great big bag of tools. Nolans position, while silly in my opinion, at least has the benefit of being a statement of opinion from an artist who knows his craft. Paramount backing him, though... I keep trying to find a less vulgar way to put it then smells like ass. After years of pressuring theater owners to transition from analog to digital now theyre making a big deal out of favoring analog? This movie already felt pretentious and overwrought to me just based on the trailers. This stupid little PR move does not make me feel any more favorable towards it.
