I dont think Old Gits will remember this in the same way as we were parents by then, us old gits had the BBC Light Programme on the Wireless listening to Uncle Macs Childrens Favourites, Two Way Family Favourites for our music and during the week things such as Jouney into Space , Take it from here etc The classics of course were , The Goon Show and Round the Horne (full of double entendres which as innocent youngsters flew straight over our heads! The only Commercial Radio was Radio Luxumbourg which presented each Sunday the Hit Parade -the Top Twenty with Alan Dell and the like presenting with adverts in cluding How to win the Pool with Horace Batchelor of Keynsham , Bristol . Even now nearly 50 years later I can remember him spelling ouT thats K E Y N S H A M Bristol! TV didnt really start for us until the Coronation in 1953 !
