I dont think anyone can grow unless hes loved exactly as he is now, appreciated for what he is rather than what he will be. ~Fred Rogers Marc and I are watching this eye-opening documentary tonight. I would encourage others to consider watching it as well. I so often see how school systems are pressured to perform and this carries over into the classroom and onto the child. We sometimes forget, even as parents, to reach and to teach and know the whole child. We can forget the importance of play--the work of childhood--and instead measure a childs success on a metric of performance rather than a metric of happiness. The joy and love of learning in Ben and in children can be fostered, cared for and honored even more by helping change the culture of dialogue within our educational system. We can seek to honor the creative thinker, the hands-on learner, the outspoken leaders and the quiet achievers by seeing children as independent and significant thinkers and creators in their worlds. youtu.be/Uem73imvn9Y
