I dont think as believers we spend enough time focusing on taking - TopicsExpress

I dont think as believers we spend enough time focusing on taking care of our temples. The very vessel God created to carry our heart and spirit we mistreat in so many ways. I would venture to say one of the most common and greatest way we mistreat our vessels is through the act of worry. We were not created for worry, we were created to trust God and let Him carry our troubles and concerns. Not only does worry paralyze our faith but it breaks down our bodies mentally and physically to the point of wearing our temples out. Life is never going to just fix itself. Believer, its time to set the worries down, lift your hands up to the heavens, let go and let God. We are His most treasured possessions. Hallelujah, its high time we begin to act like it. We have all fallen short of the glory of God, but we have been justified freely by His grace through the redemption in Christ Jesus. Depending on context, words translated as cares, concerns, or fear and anxiety can be either right or wrong attitudes in a Christians life. Fear is right when it is reverence toward God because of His holiness; and care is good when showing concern for others. But worry is always wrong. When you worry, you assume responsibility for things you never were intended to handle. Jesus repeatedly taught: Do not worry, even about the basic essentials of life. Worry divides your kind between useful and hurtful thinking. Worry does not change anything except to draw your focus away from God and His faithfulness and righteousness to concerns about the things of life, such as possessions, relationships and circumstances. Worry is a choking, harmful emotion that saps your energy and elevates human strength and ingenuity above Gods strength and His purposeful plan. Sources of worry include change, lack of understanding, and lack of control over your life. Worry opens the door to worldliness, that is, the preoccupation with things of this life. Though the children of Isreal had watched God split open the Red Sea to deliver them from Egypt, they could not believe He would provide water in the desert to meet their needs. Worry is the opposite of faith, suggesting God cannot be trusted to take care of you or to provide for your needs. Linking worry with unbelief, Scripture gives direction for a return to full faith. The road from worry to faith begins with recognition that worry is sin and confession of lack of faith, continues with deliverance, and finally ends with the assurance that absolutely nothing can separate you from the love of God who is the great I AM. In place of worry, offer thanksgiving from a heart established with trust in God as all sufficient. Lets do an exercise together, write all your worries down on individual pieces of paper. Put them in a box (hopefully its not the biggest box you have). On the top of the box write to God, from you. Say a prayer of confession, ask God for forgiveness and ask Him to take and carry those worries for you. In closing I will share something Beth Moore had to say about worry. Believing our great value to God frees us from much worry. Were never going to overcome worry by eliminating reasons to worry. Rest assured, life isnt going to suddenly fix itself. We will always have plenty of opportunities for an anxiety attack. God will we overcome worry even when overwhelmed by reasons to worry. Luke 12:25-27 And which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? If you then are not able to do the least, why are you anxious for rest? Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
