I dont think most people who read about our work in Memphis and in cities where we have built groups understand how poor my wife and myself are, and yet we have to dip into our household budget many months to pay for activist work, which leaves us sometimes not even enough for food each month. I have told her that we need to create some type of Memphis activist fund, use crowdfunding and let our friends who respect our work help us with operational funds for various campaigns, as we did last year with the Ku Klux Klan counter-demonstration. We refuse to accept govt or corporate grants, feeling that it would compromise us as it has done many other activist groups. We will let you know when we set it all up. But encourage us if you think this is a good idea and you would support us when and if the fund is created.
